Settling in
Alexandra had the first settling in session at the nursery. It was lovely. She met her key worker and lots of little ones who no doubt will be her new friends soon. I'm very happy with our choice of nursery, it seems the right place for her to be while not with me.

The last weekend in July we went to the Isle of Wight with Freya, Simon and their parents. It was great, very relaxed yet we did a lot.
On Friday, when we arrived we went to The Needles and spent some time there chatting while the children played with pebbles as the day was drawing to an end. There is a chair lift (as pictured in the link) but we used the 188 steps, which the children loved.
On Saturday morning we went to a farm and as it rained we had to be indoors for most of the time. Later we had a delicious lunch in the best pub of the island where we got plenty of attention for our three babies. Then we went back to base to recover (actually, first we stopped somewhere but I don't remember where as I stayed in the car with Simon and Alexandra who were napping, and so did I, hence I don't remember the place) for our night trip to Freshwater Bay with two bottles of wine and baby cups for glasses - very practical!
On Sunday we went to a sandy beach so the babies could go in the sea and play together. Freya was very brave and went in quite deep with her parents, but Simon and Alexandra rather stayed at shore.
I think that what I enjoyed the evenings the best, when we had some adult time after settling the children to bed. I think we needed that, chatting with other parents without the babies around. Of course, the company was great and Fiona and Graham were excellent hosts! Thank you! And thanks to Neline and Marco for being there too!

El último fin de semana de julio fuimos a la isla de Wight con Freya, Simon y sus respectivos padres.
Fue muy lindo y relajado, el viernes cuando llegamos nos fuimos a The Needles y allí nos quedamos conversando mientras los niños jugaban con piedritas al caer la tarde. Hay un mini-teleférico para bajar pero nosotros bajamos (y subimos a la vuelta) los 188 escalones.
Luego el sábado en la mañana fuimos a una granja (lamentablemente llovió mucho así que estuvimos bajo techo casi todo el tiempo) y después de un almuerzo bien rico en el mejor pub de la isla, nos fuimos a la casa a descansar y tomar energías para el paseo nocturno, que fue en Freshwater Bay, en la playa, con dos botellas de vino en tacitas de bebés.
El domingo nos fuimos a la playa otra vez, pero al otro lado de la isla, a una playa con arena, en la que los niños se pudieron dar un baño y jugar juntos. A Freya le encantó el mar, se fue con sus padres a lo hondo, mientras que Simon y Alexandra prefirieron quedarse en la orilla a jugar.
Creo que lo que más disfrutamos del viaje es que después de poner los bebés a dormir, nos quedamos conversando en la sala hasta tarde, me parece que nos hacía falta eso de compartir con otros padres en un plano más adulto. Y por supuesto la compañía fue inmejorable! Gracias a Fiona y Graham por su hospitalidad, y a Neline y Marco por estar allí también.

Sé que todos los niños pasan por eso de querer ponerse los zapatos de los mayores, pero no me esperaba que Alexandra hiciera esto!
Full Wild(e) House
The 1st of July (when England lost against Portugal her chance to win the World Cup) Emma and James organised a BBQ to celebrate that the Wilde Kiwis were visiting.
It was a lovely weekend, tasty food, with happy grandparents although they were thinking about those grandchildren who couldn't be there. The children loved playing together and Alexandra, being the youngest cousin, was spoilt with attentions. Later, Catherine and Tom argued at lenght who should share the bath with Alex and in the end both got their way, having the most fun bathtime ever... that is, until auntie Fran came to sort them out: "right, shampoo, now!" They were all wrinkly by then!
Sleeping in the tent wasn't too bad, apart from the sheep bleating during the night and the children playing quietly in the morning (they were quiet, but the swings were creaking). It was lovely, actually. Thanks again to James and Emma for the hospitality.

El primero del mes pasado (cuando Inglaterra perdió ante Portugal y salió del mundial), Emma y James hicieron una parrilla en su casa para celebrar que los Wilde Kiwis estaban de visita.
Fue un día muy lindo, la comida estuvo muy buena, los abuelos estuvieron felices de tener a casi toda la familia reunida, aunque recordando a aquellos nietos que no pudieron estar presente. Los niños disfrutaron mucho de la compañía de sus primos, y Alexandra por ser la más pequeña, fue la más consentida. A la hora del baño, Catherine y Tom discutieron con quién se debería bañar porque los dos querían bañarse con ella. Al final los dos ganaron, ambos se bañaron con ella, y jugaron en la bañera hasta que vino la tía Fran a poner orden! Y a buena hora, pues ya los niños estaban arrugaditos de tanta agua.
La acampada en el jardín estuvo muy bien (apartando las ovejas balando durante la noche y el despertar tempranero con los niños jugando en los columpios). De nuevo gracias a James y Emma por su hospitalidad.

Alexandra's new hobby is watering the plants in the balcony saying "agua" (water). So sweet!

El último pasatiempo de Alexandra es regarme las matas del balcón diciendo "agua". Tan tierna!
